10 October 2025 – The Holy See has received with deep sorrow the news of the devastating explosion at an explosives manufacturing facility in McEwen, Tennessee (USA), in which it is reported that as many as eighteen persons have lost their lives. Our hearts are united with the grieving families and the afflicted community in this hour of anguish.
We offer our sincerest condolences to the bereaved and lift our prayers to the Lord that the souls of the departed may find eternal rest in His mercy. We also commend to God those injured and traumatised by this tragedy, beseeching the Lord to grant them strength, healing, and peace.
The Patriarchate extends its prayers and appreciation to the rescue workers, medical staff, civil authorities, and all who labour with courage and compassion in the wake of this disaster. Their service amidst peril stands as a testament to the enduring light of charity that shines even in the darkest of hours.
In the face of such sorrow, we are reminded that life is sacred, fragile, and entrusted to us by the Creator. Let all people of goodwill stand together in prayer, in consolation, and in renewed dedication to the preservation of human life and dignity.
May the God of Comfort uphold the mourning, strengthen the weary, and guide the hearts of all toward compassion and hope.
Given at the Patriarchal Residence of the Holy See,
this tenth day of October, in the Year of Our Lord two thousand and twenty-five.
