Lectio Divina for 4 October 2024

Lectio (Reading)
“Judge me, Yahweh, for I have been walking in my innocence, and by hoping in Yahweh, I will not be weakened.” (Psalm 25:1)

Meditatio
Meditate on the courage it takes to ask God to judge your actions. David expresses a confidence rooted in innocence—he has walked in righteousness and integrity. However, more than this, his strength and resolve come from his unwavering trust in Yahweh.

Meditate on your own walk. Do you feel confident enough to ask God to judge you? Consider the importance of living with integrity, making hope in the Lord your foundation. It is a hope that prevents weakness, a reliance on God that sustains you in trials and temptations.

Meditate on moments where your hope has kept you from faltering.

Oratio
Lord, judge me as You judged David. I desire to walk in innocence before You, not relying on my strength but on the hope I have in You. Help me to remain strong, trusting that in You I will not be weakened, even when faced with trials. Amen.

Contemplatio
Contemplate what it means to live a life sustained by hope in the Lord. Imagine your soul anchored by trust in God, knowing that no trial, no temptation can truly weaken you as long as your hope remains in Him.

While sitting quietly with this thought, allowing yourself to experience the peace that comes from total reliance on God. Recognise that in this state, even the judgments of the Lord are a source of comfort, for they are based on mercy and love.

Actio
As you go about your day, strive to walk in innocence and keep your hope firmly placed in God. If you face moments of doubt, return to this passage, reminding yourself that by trusting in Yahweh, you will not be weakened. In your day to day activities strive to make your actions according to God’s commandments and with this hope, acting with integrity, and trusting that the Lord will sustain you in every challenge.

Please pray for peace and safety in the Holy Land. (info)
