Lectio
“And we know that, for those who love God, all things work together unto good, for those who, in accordance with his purpose, are called to be saints.” (Romans 8:28)
Read the verse slowly, emphasising the promise: “all things”—not some, but every circumstance, trial, and joy—are woven together by God for our good. Reflect on the assurance St. Paul offers: God’s providence is active and purposeful, even when unseen or misunderstood. Let this truth sink into your heart, particularly in the areas where you feel doubt or discouragement.
Meditatio
Can I trust Him in difficult times? Reflect on moments of hardship or confusion in your life. How have those situations shaped you for the better, even if the good was not immediately clear? Do I truly believe that God is working for my good, even now? Consider how you react to setbacks or pain. Do you question God’s care, or do you lean on His promises? What does it mean to love Him? Meditate on how your love for God is demonstrated in your trust, obedience, and perseverance, even when His plan is unclear.
Oratio
“Lord, I thank You for Your providence, which is always at work in my life. Teach me to trust in Your plan, even when I cannot see the way forward. Strengthen my faith during difficult times, and help me to love You with all my heart. Open my eyes to see the threads of grace You weave into my life, and grant me the courage to follow where You lead. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.”
Contemplatio
Imagine your life as a painting. Picture the various colours—some bright and joyful, others dark and difficult—being painted together by God’s hand. Watch as these colours, though seemingly chaotic at times, come together to create a beautiful piece of work. Rest in the assurance that God is not finished with His work in you. Contemplate the ways He has already turned pain into growth, confusion into clarity, and loss into blessing.
Actio
Take a few moments to journal about a specific difficulty you are facing. Write down how God might be using this challenge for your spiritual growth or the good of others. Throughout the day, repeat the words: “In all things, God works for my good.” Let this truth anchor you in His unchanging love and purpose.
