Lectio Divina for 3 January 2025

Lectio
“By faith in [Christ’s] name, this man, whom you have seen and known, has confirmed his name. And faith through him has given this man complete health in the sight of you all.” (Acts 3:16)

Read the verse slowly, considering the power of faith in Christ’s name. Reflect on the miracle described—how faith in Jesus brought physical and spiritual healing to the man who was healed. Notice that the focus is on the authority of Christ’s name, not on human strength or ability.

Meditatio
What does it mean to have faith in Christ’s name? Meditate on the authority and power that Jesus’ name carries. It is not a mere word but a representation of His divine identity and mission. How has faith in Jesus brought healing in my life? Consider areas in your life where Jesus has restored, strengthened, or healed you—whether physically, emotionally, or spiritually. Am I living as though I truly trust in His power? Meditate on whether your actions and prayers reflect a deep faith in Christ’s name and His ability to work in your life.

Oratio
My Lord Jesus, I believe in the power of Your name. Strengthen my faith, so I may trust in You completely. Heal what is broken within me, as You have healed others by Your grace. Let my life bear witness to Your authority and love, so others may come to believe in You through my testimony. Amen.

Contemplatio
Imagine the scene described in this passage. Think about the man, once crippled, now standing and walking in full health. Feel the awe and joy of those who witnessed the miracle, recognising that it was by faith in Christ’s name. Contemplate the immense power of Jesus and the invitation to trust Him for your own needs and healing. Rest in the peace of His presence and the assurance of His care.

Actio
When you pray today, consciously invoke the name of Jesus with faith and reverence. Reflect on an area of your life or a loved one’s life in need of healing, and entrust it to Christ. Throughout the day, repeat: “In Your name, Lord Jesus, I trust.” Let this remind you of His power to restore and strengthen.

Please pray for peace and safety in the Holy Land. (info)
