Passage: “I call to Yahweh who is worthy of praise, and I am saved from my foes.” (Psalm 18:3, NJB / 17:4, DR)

Meditatio

  • “I call to Yahweh”: Here David combines praise with petition, showing that even in times of distress, praise is integral to prayer. Meditate on the power of praising God even in difficult circumstances. How does praising God influence your attitude and your ability to trust in His deliverance?
  • “I am saved from my foes”: David shows firm belief in God’s saving power. He is confident that calling upon the Lord will lead to salvation from his enemies. Meditate on how this confidence in God’s protection is grounded in both prayer and praise. How can you cultivate such trust in God’s ability to save you from the challenges and spiritual enemies you face?

Oratio

Lord, I call upon Thee with praise, for Thou art worthy of all glory and honour. I trust in Thy great power to save me from every enemy that threatens my soul, whether they be external foes or internal struggles. Strengthen my heart to praise Thee in all circumstances, and fill me with the confidence that comes from knowing Thou art my protector and saviour. I place my trust in Thine unfailing love and mercy. Amen.
