“Yahweh will give virtue to his people. Yahweh will bless his people in peace.” (Psalm 28:11)
Meditatio
Meditate on the dual promises of virtue and peace. The Lord does not simply ask His people to be virtuous; He gives them the strength to live lives of integrity and moral excellence. Meditate on the ways in which God has provided you with the virtue necessary to live out your faith. Are there areas in your life where you need to ask for more of the Lord’s strength and guidance?
The promise of peace is equally significant. The Lord’s peace goes beyond external circumstances—it is a deep, spiritual peace that persists even in when having to endure trials. Where in your life do you need God’s peace today? Meditate on the areas where you feel unsettled or anxious, and invite the Lord to bless you with His peace, trusting that His presence can bring calm to any storm. How does living with virtue lead to peace in your life and in your relationships with others?
Meditate on Christ’s words in St. John 14:27 and how His words correlate with David’s plea for the Lord to bless His people with peace. “Peace I leave for you; my Peace I give to you. Not in the way that the world gives, do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, and let it not fear.”
Oratio
Lord, I ask for Your grace to fill me with virtue. Strengthen me to live a life that reflects Your righteousness and goodness. Where I am weak, make me strong through Your Spirit, so that I may walk in integrity and honour You in all that I do. Bless me also with Your peace, Lord—peace that transcends my understanding and calms my heart in the midst of trials. I trust in Your promises, and I ask for Your blessing in both virtue and peace, for only You can grant these gifts fully and abundantly. Amen.
Contemplatio
Dwell on the promise that the Lord will give virtue and peace to His people. Imagine receiving these gifts from God—virtue that strengthens your soul and peace that settles your spirit. Contemplate on the fact that the Lord desires to bless you with both of these gifts. Contemplate how these divine qualities can transform your life, your relationships, and your walk with God. Let His peace fill you and His virtue empower you as you continue in His presence.
Actio
Seek to live out the virtues that the Lord has given you. Whether in your relationships, work, or personal life, ask God for the strength to act with integrity, kindness, and righteousness. At the same time, be mindful of the peace that Christ has promised. When you face moments of anxiety or unrest, pause to invite God’s peace into your heart. Share that peace with others, spreading calm and love to those around you. Let your life be a reflection of the virtue and peace that the Lord grants to His people.
