“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” (Genesis 1:1)
Consider the weight of “In the beginning”—the eternal God, existing before time, initiating creation. Reflect on His sovereignty and creative power that brought everything into existence from nothing.
Meditatio
What does this verse reveal about God’s nature? Meditate on His omnipotence, creativity, and authority as the Creator. Everything that exists is an expression of His will and love. How do I recognise God as Creator in my daily life? Meditate on the beauty and order of creation around you. Do you acknowledge Him in the wonders of nature, the heavens, and the earth? What does “the beginning” mean for my relationship with the Lord? Consider that just as He initiated creation, He is the beginning of all things in your life, including your faith and purpose.
Oratio
Creator God, I stand in awe of Your majesty and power. You formed the heavens and the earth with a word, and You continue to sustain all that You have made. Help me to honour You as the source of all life and to see Your handiwork in everything around me. Renew my wonder and gratitude for Your creation, and guide me to live in harmony with it. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Contemplatio
Imagine the moment of creation. Contemplate on the vast, formless void transformed by God’s voice into light, sky, and earth. Feel the awe of witnessing His power unfold. Let the beauty and order of creation fill you with gratitude and humility. Rest in the knowledge that the God who created the universe also formed you with the same care and intention.
Actio
Spend time outdoors today, observing the natural world as a reflection of God’s creativity and love. As you do, whisper the words: “In the beginning, God created.” Let this remind you of His continual presence and sustaining power in your life and in all creation.
