Advent Devotional – Day 21

“For this reason, Yahweh himself will grant to you a sign. Behold, a virgin will conceive, and she will give birth to a son, and his name will be called Immanuel.” (Isaiah 7:14)

This prophecy is one of the clearest foretellings of Christ’s miraculous birth. The virgin birth of Jesus stands as a demonstration of God’s power and the fulfilment of His promise to redeem His people. The name Immanuel, meaning “God with us,” encapsulates the heart of the Incarnation: God has come to dwell amongst us as a loving Redeemer.

Advent is a time to meditate on this beautiful mystery. God did not remain far off but entered into our world, taking on human flesh to rescue us from sin. Through Jesus Christ, we are never alone, for He is truly with us. This promise brings comfort in times of trial and joy in times of celebration.

Spend time today reflecting on the name Immanuel. How has God been with you in your life? Share your reflection with someone as a way to encourage them about God’s constant presence.

O Lord, You gave us the sign of the virgin birth, and through it, You brought Your Son into the world to save us. Thank You for Your presence with us in Christ, our Immanuel. Help us to live each day in the joy and assurance of Your love and nearness. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Please pray for peace and safety in the Holy Land. (info)
