Part 5: Water in the Dry Field

In drought the ground gapes and hearts fail. A master and his men stood in a field where seed would wither for lack of rain. Isidore, knowing that God crowns labour with His own gifts, sank to his knees and prayed. At that place a spring broke forth—or, in other tellings, he struck the earth and water answered. The point is not display but doctrine: creation is not dumb to the Creator’s mercy; the worker who prays honours both science and supplication. Irrigation and petition are not rivals; they are allies when offered rightly. The saint’s prayer teaches hope that does not command God but trusts Him.

Prayer: Giver of rain and Lord of harvests, look upon our need. Refresh the earth and our hearts, that our labour may not be in vain. Saint Isidore, obtain for us timely help.

Scripture: Psalm 65:9–13; James 5:17–18.
