Bet-Shultana

The Bet-Shultana is the official name of the Holy See, the central ecclesiastical administrative seat of the Patriarch. The full name is “Bet-Shultana” which is derived from the Syriac for “house of authority”. The Bet-Shultana is currently located on Musa Djalil Street in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

As the ecclesiastical center of the Jerusalem Church, Shultana plays a vital role in guiding the faith, practice, and communal life of its members. It upholds the teachings entrusted to Saint James and maintains continuity with the foundational leadership established during the first century. Through its oversight, the Bet Shultana ensures that the ancient liturgical customs, theological teachings, and moral disciplines of the Church are preserved and authentically lived out by its faithful.

In its administrative role, Shultana manages the ecclesial affairs of the assembly, including pastoral care, the consecration of clergy, maintenance of canonical order, and the stewardship of sacred sites and texts. It is the seat from which doctrinal decisions are discerned, internal unity is maintained, and outreach to other apostolic traditions is cultivated.

Shultana is a living institution that continues to serve the community of believers who seek to walk in the footsteps of Christ and the saints, especially Saint James, whose legacy forms the cornerstone of Jerusalem’s sacred Christian heritage.

The Shultana has representation in Israel, United States and Uzbekistan. The new Catholicos Patriarch, Mar Mattai Beita d’Mshikha, was appointed on September 5, 2025 by the Holy See.
