Lectio Divina for 27 December 2024

Lectio
“Yahweh directs me, and nothing will be lacking to me.” (Psalm 22:1/23:1)

Meditatio
Meditate on the image of the Lord as a shepherd—gentle yet strong, guiding His flock with care and vigilance. In His care, nothing essential will be lacking. This is not a guarantee of material abundance but a pledge that He will sustain and guide you in every need.

Do I trust Him as my shepherd? Examine your heart. Are there areas in your life where you resist His guidance? Do you find yourself worrying excessively, forgetting that He knows what you need? Reflect on the qualities of a shepherd—protection, provision, and guidance. Consider moments in your life when you have experienced the Lord’s care, even in ways you did not expect. Ask yourself: When I feel lost or uncertain, do I look to Yahweh as my shepherd, or do I try to rely on my own strength?

Oratio
“Divine Shepherd of my soul, I come to You as a sheep in need of Your care. Lead me through the paths of righteousness, and guide me to the still waters of Your peace. Teach me to trust in Your provision, even when the way is unclear. Help me to surrender my anxieties, knowing that You are my refuge. Shepherd me, O Lord, through every valley, and let me rest in the knowledge that I shall not want. Through our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.”

Contemplatio
Picture yourself as a sheep in a lush, green pasture. Imagine the gentle hand of the Shepherd guiding you to cool waters, the sunlight warming your wool, and the stillness of His presence filling you with peace. Hear His voice calling you by name, leading you away from danger and into rest. Allow the simplicity of His care to quiet your heart and bring you solace.

Actio
Carry this image with you throughout your day. When faced with a challenge, repeat the words: “Yahweh directs me, and nothing will be lacking to me.” Let this image guide your decisions and quiet your fears, knowing He is always present to provide and protect.

Please pray for peace and safety in the Holy Land. (info)
