Lectio
“Do not remember the offenses of my youth and my transgressions. Remember me according to your mercy, because of your goodness, O Yahweh.” (Psalm 24:7)
Meditatio
Meditate on the idea of asking the Lord to forget your sins. David knows that he has fallen short, especially in his youth, but his hope is not in his own ability to make amends; it’s in God’s mercy.
Meditate on your own life and the mistakes or sins that you carry from the past. What offenses of your youth do you wish to leave behind?
Oratio
O Yahweh, do not remember the sins of my youth or the transgressions I have committed. In Your mercy, forget my failures, and instead, look upon me through the lens of Your goodness. I trust in Your compassion, and I ask for the grace to live according to Your mercy, with my past sins left behind. Help me to grow in humility and trust in Your unfailing love.
Contemplatio
In contemplation, envision yourself standing before God, offering Him your past sins and transgressions. Feel the weight of those offenses lifted as He looks upon you not with condemnation, but with love and mercy. Contemplate the goodness of Yahweh, who chooses to remember you according to His mercy rather than your faults. Rest in the peace that comes from knowing that in God’s eyes, you are forgiven and embraced by His goodness. Let this contemplation lead you to deeper trust in His infinite mercy.
Actio
Leave behind the burden of past sins and embrace the mercy of the Lord. As an act of faith, let go of any lingering guilt or shame from past transgressions. If necessary, seek the Sacrament of Reconciliation as a concrete way to experience God’s forgiveness. Moving forward, strive to live in the light of His mercy, showing compassion and forgiveness to others as you have received it. Let your life be shaped by God’s goodness, reflecting the mercy He has shown to you.
