Years after his holy death, heavy rains disturbed graves near Madrid. When Isidore’s resting place was opened, his body was found intact, preserved from the decay common to all. The Church does not rest doctrine upon signs such as these, yet she receives them with reverence as testimonies permitted by God for the comfort of the faithful. Incorruption, when granted, is not a spectacle but a reminder: the body, tempered by labour and prayer, is destined for glory; the servant who tilled the earth awaits the New Creation. Veneration increased, not to honour flesh for its own sake, but to glorify the God who hallows His friends.
Prayer: Eternal Word made flesh, who wilt raise our mortal bodies incorrupt, grant that we may keep our members in holiness and hope. Saint Isidore, pray for our perseverance.
Scripture: 1 Corinthians 15:42–49; Wisdom 3:1–9.
