TASHKENT, UZBEKISTAN \u2014 The Holy See today announced the canonisation of Ceferino Namuncur\u00e1, declaring him Saint Ceferino the Pius. This momentous event marks a significant step in recognising the sanctity of South America’s indigenous heritage within the universal Church.<\/p>\n
Saint Ceferino the Pius, a young man of indigenous Mapuche descent, has been officially proclaimed a saint following his virtuous life and intercessory miracles. Known for his profound piety and dedication to the service of God, he has been declared the patron saint of choral music, seminarians, and young priests.<\/p>\n
His feast day has been set for August 26, offering a special occasion for the faithful to honour his life of holiness and his devotion to fostering unity and faith among the youth and clergy.

Born in South America, Saint Ceferino lived a life marked by his ardent love for Christ, commitment to his studies, and efforts to build bridges between cultures through the harmony of faith. His story serves as inspiration for seminarians, musicians, and young priests, encouraging them to walk steadfastly in their vocations.<\/p>\n
H.H. Patriarch Seraphim stated, “Today, the Church rejoices as we welcome Saint Ceferino the Pius into the heavenly assembly of saints.
